Map the inputs, outputs, and cycles of a farm you’d want to run. Think about: land, water, feed, animals, waste, energy, labor, products, money. Draw or describe the system — show how the pieces connect. This isn’t about getting it “right” — it’s about making your thinking visible.
Spend 20–30 minutes researching what it would actually cost to start a small horse farm and teaching program. Look at land prices in areas you’d consider, the cost of fencing, barns, feed, vet care, insurance. You don’t need exact numbers — ballpark ranges are fine. The point is to start understanding the real economics.
If you finish early, look into existing programs that do what you’ve described wanting to do — farms that teach horsemanship to kids, especially LGBTQ+ youth programs. They exist. Seeing that someone has actually done the thing you want to do is powerful.
